Cameron Highlands Greening Program Second Series

Cameron Highlands, March 7, 2015 - Forestry Department of Pahang State has collaborated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Forestry Department Peninsular Malaysia (JPSM) organized the Cameron Highlands Greening Program Series 2 located in compartment 5,Hutan Simpan Gunung Siku, Cameron Highlands. A total of 3000 trees have been planted consisting of species Podo Kebal Musang, Tecoma, Rhu Bukit dan Meranti Bukit.

Greening Program was attended by almost 800 participants from various NGOs, including the Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam (PEKA), Regional Environmental Awareness Cameron Highlands (REACH), the Association of Nature Lovers Malaysia (MNS), the Institute of Foresters Malaysia (RIM) and the activist Sahabat Alam (POWER), as well as government agencies and local communities. The opening ceremony of the program was held on March 8, 2015 and officiated by Dato 'Seri G. Palanivel, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. He also participated together participants plant trees in the area.

In addition, during the last two days of the program, a demonstration was held  for monitoring the area using the drones by TM Malaysia, spraying demonstration by the method of hydro mulching grass on the slope and grass planting demonstration vertiver hillside by the Department of Agriculture.
