Taman Rimba Kenong was established by the Pahang Forestry Department in 1988. This area includes Taman Negara Lembah Kenong, which borders the northern part of the Taman Negara. The main developmental plan is to create a Forest Park, which emphasizes visitors’ needs without ignoring the importance of preservation and environmental sustainability of the natural resources, in line with the theme, "Kenong Forest Park – Premier Nature Gateway".
The source of attraction of Taman Rimba Kenong is its unique flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest of over 130 million years, the unique geological formations of limestone cave network, the heroic history of the past Malay warriors, the discovery of a variety of ancient object of high heritage value and mysterious tales and fables. All these features make Taman Rimba Kenong an area suitable for education, recreation and variety of activities, including scientific research expeditions.
