Cameron Highlands - The Heart Of The Central Forest Spine

This coffee table book on Cameron Highlands serves two purposes: it provides a fun and light-reading material for the general readers; it introduces the readers to the wonders of nature and the highland ecosystems. In achieving these goals, a collection of photographs and information relevant to Cameron Highlands  were gathered to create this wonderful documentation of the wealth of biodiversity in Cameron Highlands.

The mountain forests here are home  to a myriad of montane species of flora and fauna, some of which are endemic and specialized to live in a cool habitat and sometimes, harsh environment. Here is also a haven for the birdwatchers, entomologies, botanist, herbalist, naturalist all alike, who seek close encounters with the wild. Many of them are likely to be rewarded with glimpses of fleeting birds, sounds of calling frogs, scents of beautiful flowers, and sights of beautiful landscapes.

Some of the natural habitats are protected within the laws and judicious management of the relevant authorities. However, since the population in Cameron Highlands is on the increase, and much dependent on the natural resources that the mountains have to offer, many groups of flora and fauna are being threatened. It is hoped that this book contributes to an increased awareness and to an understanding of the value of nature to benefit humankind for survival, instead of for short-term monetary gain.
